Town Historian

The office of town historian is designed to have someone who will document and preserve the history of a community. The historian is charged with promoting the preservation of historically significant sites and records along with collecting and in some cases correcting the local history.

While a municipal historian does not do in depth historical and genealogical research for individuals, they can be a valuable asset for directing researchers to available resources. Historians also educate the public through oral presentations and writings.
